SUPERMAN/WONDER WOMAN #6

One day I walked into a library and my eyes fell on a book called Kingdom Come. I picked it up and to my surprise it was a comic book...or rather as I later learned, a graphic novel. But I saw beautifully painted panels and heroes that I recognized from my childhood who seemed ...well, grown up. I borrowed that book and I was moved and fascinated by, not only the story of men and women who are great heroes, but by they way they showed their humanity. They suddenly were not two dimensional people who just fought bad guys. They were deeply complex. I love books and reading on the whole and I guess getting into the comic genre as an adult woman was a case of serendipity. It led me to finding DC comics and the heroes I grew up with on TV and saw in movies and newsprint. It led me to finding Clark Kent or as he is known by his other name, Kal-El, and Princess Diana. I fell in love with them and am obsessed with all things Amazonian and Kryptonian now. I love their relationship. I love what they stand for. I love the contrasts of the princess/farmer's son; reporter/ambassador; pragmatic warrior/idealistic protector and empathetic teacher/enforcer of justice. A girl born of the earth and a boy who fell from the sky. The first daughter of Themyscira and last son of Krypton. And it surprised me to find that there were many fans like me, who adore them too.

DC rebooted their universe in 2011 and my favorite pairing is now canon!!! Yay.

Aquaman #16

In this issue we find out who started the War between Atlantis and the surface. Mera and Vic helps free Arthur, Bruce, Clark and Diana.

Justice League #16 Review

The Throne of Atlantis continues with Aquaman caught between worlds. In an effort to try to stop all out war breaking out between Atlantis and the surface he tries to stop the League from taking Orm in and . This whole issue is full of amazing art and the story is full of action and implications for Arthur as a king and League member. I give it 4.5 out of 5.

Enjoy the scans and I love seeing how fiercely protective Clark and Diana are of each other.

Orm dispatchs the League with the combined power of his army and the magical power of his trident.

Superman #16 Review

We have a flash back with H'el on Krypton looking at the way he became friends with the Els and then H'el and Kara in the present working together to bring back Krypton.

Clark and the League are still fighting their way into the Fortress. I love Rocafort's art and his jeans and tee Superman is pretty hot.I love seeing Diana with Superboy. Even while she is strict with him (because he is cocky) you can see her genuine concern for him.

The group eventually catches up with H'el and Kara and I was with Superboy when he gave her a taste of her own medicine, even if it was not gallant. But they are teenagers, who have no bond as yet and she has not been nice to him at all.

Of course, we have a bit of a cliffhanger as all does not go to plan.

Another fun issue. 4 out of 5.

Superboy #16 Review

As I said before, I am really behind on reviews so these will be more scans ( concentrating on SM/WW)  and some random thoughts on the issue. Here, Superboy teams up with the Justice League. Well, four of them...Batman, Superman, Cyborg and last but not least, Wonder Woman.

Superboy reflects on his origin (living weapon created to take down Superman) and his awe being around Batman and Wonder Woman. He's still wearing Clark's armor to keep him together after H'el messed with his DNA.

Before they had gotten to the Fortress they had some help from the good Dr Veritas.

Superboy gets to show what he is made of as do other members of the team.

Yeah, Bruce knows about Clark and Diana's judging by this remark.

Superboy goes after Kal.

Fun issue. 4 out of 5.
